Herbalism

 Herbalism

The herbal tradition is the oldest extant system of medicine, it is part of every country’s history and folklore and to the present day.  The World Health Organisation (WHO) now estimate that 70% of world population use herbal medicine as their primary source of health care.  Herbs are used to treat many diseases and disorders, they can be used safely as a medicine when prescribed by a qualified practitioner.

Our practitioner, Eibhlín O'Callaghan has been practicing as a herbalist for 9 years, using a combination of Western Herbal Tradition and Traditional Chinese Medicinal herbs, and has treated many conditions, e.g. asthma, arthritis (Osteo, Rheumatoid and Gout), allergies, skin conditions, heart disease, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, digestive disorders, (such as Crohn’s disease, IBS, ulcerative colitis, peptic ulcers etc), general infections, (such as colds, influenza, sore throats, chest and ear infections, kidney infections etc.), hormonal imbalance, (e.g. menopause, irregular periods, infertility, polycystic ovarian syndrome etc.), prostate problems, sleep disturbance, headaches & migraines.

Herbs can be taken internally in the form of syrups,  decoctions, teas and tinctures. They can also be used externally as creams, balms and poultices. Also herbs can be used in the simplest of ways, as food and in cooking.  Most herbs can be used from the cradle into ripe old age, although there are restricted herbs in pregnancy.

Each person who consults with Eibhlín is treated as an individual and each treatment will be tailored to meet their own uniqueness.

Consultations take between 1 and ½ to 2 hours.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a safe, gentle system of healthcare that has been practiced throughout the world for over 200 years.

It uses naturally occurring substances in the form of remedies to stimulate the body's own healing power. The results, although gentle, can be powerful and long lasting and is suitable for everyone.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a Complementary therapy involving the treatment if various disorders by applying pressure to precise ‘reflex areas’ of the feet and hands. The pressure applied is firm but not heavy and by incorporating Traditional Chinese Acupressure your reflexology treatment will treat and balance your whole body. This very relaxing treatment, accesses your body’s energy systems, stimulates your body and clears out congestion which causes imbalances.

Reflexology can also be used as a preventative treatment to keep the body in good working order.

Hot Stones

Hot Stones is the use of Warm, smooth stones and oil which are used to energize and stimulate the energy channels of the body.  There is a profound sense of relaxation as the heat melts away accumulated stress and fatigue.  I use the stones to stimulate acupressure points to further relax muscles, restore energy and blood flow, increase range of motion, stimulate chakras and to create an overall sense of well-being.   It is a very gentle detoxifying treatment.

Reiki
